“It’s a great day in CCISD.” Those words were the constant greeting from former Clear Creek Independent School District Superintendent Sandra Mossman and they are the goal of the school that now bears her name. At Sandra Mossman Elementary, we strive to make every day great for every child.

The teachers at Mossman Elementary are committed to helping each student achieve his or her personal best through strong character and academic success. For the 2013-2014 school year, Mossman Elementary students scored high on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR), with 91% passing in reading and 92% passing in mathematics.

Our dedicated teachers work together to ensure that all students are successful, not just the ones in their classes. Teaching teams meet each week to design engaging, relevant and purposeful work that provides students with the experiences they need to learn and master skills and concepts. Our teachers continue their growth as educators by observing each other’s classrooms and having regular coaching conversations with educational leaders.

At Mossman Elementary, we believe that family involvement is crucial to the success of a child and we strive to build an environment where families play an active role in the accomplishments of our students. In a 2014 email survey, 90% of our parents gave Mossman Elementary a grade of A or B in the category of “Community and Parental Involvement Opportunities.” Both parents and staff gave our school high marks regarding the overall perception of education quality at Mossman:

Our robust PTA has worked diligently to provide for all students. Their fundraising efforts have built a playground, supplied literacy books for the library and instructional materials for classrooms, furniture for our courtyard, materials for our Discovery Garden and so much more. These dedicated parents also volunteer countless hours in our classrooms and at home to make Mossman Elementary a school that every student can be proud of.

Mossman Elementary is unique in many ways, including our location. Our school is a part of the Education Village, CCISD’s K-12, three-campus park. The complex, that also includes Bayside Intermediate School and Clear Falls High School, is the first Education Village in Texas and one of the few of its kind in the nation. Collaboration is the cornerstone at Mossman Elementary, and this close physical proximity allows our students to work together with their fellow Knights from Bayside Intermediate and Clear Falls High School to solve problems, share ideas and learn from one another.

Our teachers and staff believe in celebrating the successes of children, not just academically but as citizens of our local community. Mossman Elementary offers many clubs and activities that allow our students to explore their interests and develop their passions. From our bi-annual Farmer’s Market and monthly K-2 Art/Book Club to our Recycle Rangers and sign language club “Silent Knights,” students have many opportunities to become involved in their school. By encouraging individuality, we develop responsible, well-rounded students who are prepared for the next step in their academic journey.

At Mossman Elementary, it is always a “Great Day in Clear Creek ISD.”
